You will be at the heart of a collaborative team, working closely with colleagues and external advisers to ensure robust tax compliance and governance. The organisation is renowned for its commitment to professional development, offering flexible working opportunities, generous pension contributions, and access to extensive training resources. If you are looking for a position where your expertise will be valued and your career can flourish within an inclusive and supportive environment, this is the perfect next step.

  • Benefit from flexible working opportunities, generous pension contributions, and ongoing training designed to support your professional growth and well-being.
  • Join a knowledgeable and dependable team that values collaboration, inclusivity, and supportive leadership, fostering both personal and professional development.

What you'll do:

As a Real Estate Tax Associate Director based in London, you will play an integral part in supporting the full spectrum of tax activities associated with European real estate investments. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve collaborating with advisors on structuring new acquisitions, reviewing complex documentation during transactions, modelling tax implications of disposals, and acting as a trusted resource for both internal teams and investors. You will oversee the work of external advisers handling direct and indirect tax compliance for a diverse portfolio of subsidiaries while ensuring timely completion of investor reporting obligations across multiple jurisdictions. By maintaining rigorous governance frameworks and proactively monitoring legislative changes throughout Europe, you will help safeguard the organisation’s interests while driving process improvements that benefit both clients and colleagues. Your ability to communicate complex issues clearly will be essential in building strong relationships within the business.

  • Collaborate with advisors to determine optimal structures for new real estate acquisitions across Europe, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and business objectives.
  • Review tax structure reports and transaction due diligence documents, managing seamless transitions from acquisition through to operational phases including necessary registrations and elections.
  • Model potential tax impacts during disposals, responding effectively to information requests from prospective purchasers to facilitate smooth transactions.
  • Respond promptly to investor queries and review side letter requests, maintaining clear communication channels with stakeholders throughout the investment lifecycle.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all tax-related questions from colleagues within the Real Estate business unit, fostering strong inter-departmental relationships.
  • Procure and manage external tax advisers for both direct and indirect tax compliance matters, overseeing obligations for approximately 200 investment subsidiaries and specialist vehicles such as REITs.
  • Supervise investor reporting processes including US K-1 forms, German reporting requirements, French 3% filings, and other jurisdiction-specific obligations.
  • Maintain a robust tax governance framework for all Real Estate funds under management, ensuring adherence to internal controls and industry standards.
  • Monitor relevant tax changes across Europe, communicating updates internally to ensure ongoing compliance and informed decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in controls and processes related to tax compliance, implementing practical solutions that enhance efficiency.

What you bring:

To excel as a Real Estate Tax Associate Director, you will bring substantial experience gained within real estate funds or similar environments where cross-border investments are commonplace. Your background will include hands-on involvement in managing complex compliance requirements across various European jurisdictions. You will possess not only technical expertise but also outstanding interpersonal abilities that enable you to build trust-based relationships with colleagues at all levels. Your commercial awareness allows you to anticipate challenges before they arise while your clear communication style ensures everyone understands even the most intricate aspects of taxation. A proactive approach means you are always seeking ways to improve existing processes—making you an invaluable asset to any team focused on delivering excellence in client service.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field demonstrating strong academic achievement.
  • Professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CTA (or equivalent), evidencing technical proficiency in taxation or accountancy.
  • At least three years’ experience working with real estate funds or similar investment vehicles within a European context.
  • Comprehensive understanding of key tax issues affecting real estate investments across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Proven track record in managing direct and indirect tax compliance obligations for large portfolios of subsidiaries or holding companies.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills with a collaborative approach that fosters collegiate relationships both internally and externally.
  • Commercial mindset with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into accessible language for non-specialist colleagues.
  • Proactive attitude towards identifying areas for continuous improvement in controls or processes related to tax compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly assimilate new rules or regulations impacting business operations within the real estate sector.
