Job Description

At Turner & Townsend, our Real Estate Digital team advise on best-fit, future-proofed technology hardware, software, network, IoT solutions and smart building systems - delivering cost effective integrated approaches. And we can provide specialist services such as data centre moves and migration, IT project management and IT solution assurance.

We typically sit between our clients and the constructions teams to drive the development and integration of:

  1. Fibre & Copper structured cabling solutions
  2. Intelligent building systems

  6. End user technologies
  7. Data centres
  8. Comms room development

Our Real Estate Digital team have a vacancy for an IT Project Manager to work with clients in the built environment, where you would be working to deliver projects that include developing and implementing organisational wide digital strategies and advanced disruptive technologies into the built environment. This role is open to professionals of varying experience aligned to the verb descriptors below, applied to the following responsibilities.

Main responsibilities

We are always on the lookout for bright, talented and motivated IT Project Manager with technical competencies to work on large scale, complex technology projects in the built environment.

  1. As an IT Project Manager you will provide support on major IT Programme and Commercial Management Commissions, taking responsibility for all aspects of technology service delivery. You will ensure client objectives are met and that projects are delivered on schedule, within cost targets and meet the appropriate quality standards.
  2. You will need to be able to work in partnership with our clients to advise on how technology can help overcome business challenges. You will be expected to push the boundaries of technology and stretch the imagination of our clients by developing with them, the best in class, most flexible and future proofed solutions. You can then articulate the solution to audiences of both business and technical decision makers.
  3. You will work on commissions of varying sizes and complexity, engage with stakeholders to manage design and coordination within the construction programme.
  4. You will embed yourself within the design team to drive the technology vision, provide strategy development, specification creation, cost models development, heat output calculations and more. Most of our projects require technology delivery to be aligned to RIBA plan of work.
  5. You will have a good understanding of the commercial property sector, understanding their pain points and areas for improvements, with a focus on their user experience.

Key accountabilities to include:

  1. Supporting clients with vision and strategy development
  2. Taking a leading role in interfacing with the client and other consultants, at all project stages
  3. Helping to establish the overall success criteria for the programme, including all projects, time, cost, technical and performance parameters
  4. Identifying and ensuring that the appropriate stakeholders are aware of quality, safety, health and environment issues
  5. Establishing effective project governance, processes and systems to be utilised throughout project
  6. Project planning, including producing the detailed project plan
  7. Leading and facilitating the overall cross-functional project teams
  8. Managing the flow of project information between the team and the client, through regular meetings and written communications
  9. Managing the IT change control process
  10. Monitoring and advising upon project finances
  11. Preparing formal project progress and other reports
  12. Have a working understanding of IT procurement and process in a construction/ refurbishment environment
  13. Capable of schedule management of IT and IT related installations including AV, voice, cabling and building systems.
  14. New business sales - identify and qualify opportunities to assist clients with their technology consultancy need

Qualifications

Key Requirements

Essential

  1. Proven experience working as a project manager delivering integrated technology solutions
  2. Proven ability to work across a variety of technical disciplines (networking, infrastructure, third-party applications) and to have amassed a comprehensive understanding of IT functions.
  3. Ability to quickly master technical concepts, processes, details, and skills, and be able to effectively communicate them to a wide variety of audience
  4. Resourceful problem-solver, leveraging internal and partner resources where and when needed to do what's right for the customer and for the organization
  5. Strong understanding of APM Body of Knowledge
  6. Good stakeholder management, self-motivated, with strong verbal, written, and presentation skills
  7. Ability to engage stakeholders and build relationships
  8. One or more of the below qualification/certifications:
  9. APM Project Management qualification
  10. Agile Project Management Practitioner qualification
  11. Prince2 Project Management

Desirable

  1. Experience delivering SMART buildings, IoT systems, and OT Networks
  2. Understanding of technical capabilities (Network, Fibre, SMART buildings, IT, OT)
  3. Experience writing bid responses and presenting ideas in interview
  4. Knowledge and experience of working with/ within the commercial property sector
  5. Knowledge of RIBA plan of work
  6. Security Cleared
