Chadwick Nott in Exeter seeks a Real Estate Associate (Residential Development) to join its market-leading transactional team. You will advise national housebuilders, developers, landowners and registered providers on complex development work.

This role offers early responsibility, high-quality work, and a flexible hybrid working model across offices, with strong client exposure and opportunities to develop business and contribute to high-profile projects.

Qualifications

• 2-4+ PQE in Commercial Real Estate.
• Experience in residential development or strong interest in specialising in this area.
• Solid grounding in real estate transactions and development work.
• Strong technical skills with commercial awareness.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.

Responsibilities

• Acting on residential development acquisitions and disposals.
• Advising on affordable housing transactions for developers and registered providers.
• Supporting on strategic land projects, including promotion agreements and option arrangements.
• Handling development matters such as overage agreements, conditional contracts, title due diligence, easements and tenancies.
• Collaborating with planning, tax and other specialist teams.

The Role

An exciting opportunity to join a highly regarded Transactional Real Estate team within a Top 100 UK law firm, consistently ranked in the Legal 500 and recognised for its strength across regional and national markets.

As an Associate, you'll play a key role in a market-leading Residential Development team, advising a broad client base including national housebuilders, developers, landowners and registered providers.

This is a varied, hands‑on role offering exposure to high‑quality, complex development work.

Key responsibilities include:

• Acting on residential development acquisitions and disposals
• Advising on affordable housing transactions for developers and registered providers
• Supporting on strategic land projects, including promotion agreements and option arrangements
• Handling a wide range of development matters such as:
• Overage agreements
• Conditional contracts
• Title due diligence
• Easements and tenancies
• Working closely with colleagues across planning, tax and other specialist teams

You’ll benefit from early responsibility, meaningful client exposure and the opportunity to contribute to high‑profile projects.

Candidate Requirements

You will ideally have:

• 2-4+ PQE in Commercial Real Estate
• Experience in residential development, or a strong interest in specialising in this area
• A solid grounding in real estate transactions and development work
• Strong technical skills combined with commercial awareness
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships
• A proactive approach with an interest in business development and client growth
