  • Working as a direct extension of our client's in-house legal team, delivering directly to client business stakeholders, providing end-to-end outsourced legal service as part of a dedicated team.

THE TEAM

  • The team is part of our real estate ALS team, managing the client's property portfolio. It is within our real estate practice group, separate from other client accounts or transactional real estate work.
  • The team acts as a "one-stop shop" for real estate asset management work typically handled by an in-house team.
  • The Real Estate Group is one of Addleshaw Goddard's largest, advising clients in 98 countries across 18 offices.
  • We use the latest technology, including Orbital Witness and HighQ platforms, with training provided. We encourage innovative thinking and testing new technologies, including generative AI.
  • The broader team has experience in all aspects of real estate work, led by two partners with 40 years of combined experience.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN THIS ROLE:

Associate:

  • Working within a structured delivery model with clear guidelines, client know-how, dedicated support, legal tech, and project management.
  • Handling various commercial property asset management instructions, including leases, renewals, licenses, disposals, and pre-acquisition reports. Advising on property queries and involving specialists when needed.
  • Collaborating with the client account team to ensure consistency and share best practices.
  • Building relationships with internal teams to provide timely, high-quality advice and manage expectations.
  • Working as part of a team to execute large-scale, high-value matters to high standards.
  • Offering a good work-life balance with flexible hours, primarily home-based with occasional travel.
  • This role acts as an extension of an in-house team, with additional support, training, and opportunities at Addleshaw Goddard.
  • Opportunity to work in a developing legal area, with flexible/part-time options, standard hours similar to in-house roles, and access to innovative methodologies, legal tech training, and practice group resources.

YOUR AREAS OF KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE:

To succeed, you should:

  • Have 2+ years' experience as an Associate in commercial property and real estate, particularly asset management, with retail experience preferred.
  • Manage your diary and tasks efficiently, ensuring responsiveness and high client service levels.
  • Be eager to develop your legal skills and engage with innovation and improvement programs.
  • Be confident in drafting clear, effective documents and providing practical solutions.
  • Be inquisitive about clients and their needs to deliver impactful advice.
