Job Description:

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

  • Working as a direct extension of our client's in-house legal team, delivering directly to client business stakeholders, providing end-to-end outsourced legal services as part of a dedicated team.
  • Our Tier 1 ranked team is looking for an Associate to join a dedicated client service team.
  • Delivering legal services using innovative methods and drawing insights from the client's data to improve the services offered.
  • Acting for a FTSE 100 Retail Company and supporting the delivery of a full portfolio of services to manage that client's property estate.
  • Our Advanced Legal Solutions (ALS) approach includes using cutting-edge technology, legal operations specialists, access to specialist lawyers, and training for team members.
  • Offering a real opportunity to be part of a new way of delivering legal services to an exceptional client.

THE TEAM

  • The team is part of our real estate ALS team, working as a dedicated client account team to manage the client's property portfolio. The team is within our real estate practice group, alongside broader private practice lawyers. The candidate will focus solely on this client.
  • The team acts as a "one-stop shop" for all real estate asset management work, similar to an in-house team.
  • The Real Estate Group is one of Addleshaw Goddard's largest groups, advising clients in 98 countries, with offices on three continents.
  • We use the latest technology, including Orbital Witness and HighQ platforms, with training provided. We encourage testing new technologies, including generative AI.
  • The team has handled all aspects of real estate work, led by two partners with 40 years of combined experience.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN THIS ROLE:

Associate:

  • Working within a structured delivery model with clear guidelines, support, and legal tech tools.
  • Handling various commercial property asset management instructions, including leases, renewals, disposals, and pre-acquisition reviews. Advising on property queries and involving specialists as needed.
  • Collaborating with the wider client team to ensure consistency and share best practices.
  • Building relationships with internal teams, acting as a trusted advisor.
  • Working as part of a cohesive team to execute high-standard client matters.
  • Enjoying a good work-life balance with flexible hours, primarily home-based with occasional travel.
  • This role extends an in-house team experience, with added support, training, and innovative methodologies.
  • Opportunities for flexible working, ongoing training, and exposure to innovative legal technologies.

YOUR AREAS OF KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE:

To succeed, you should:

  • Have 2+ years of experience as an Associate in commercial property and real estate in England & Wales, especially asset management, with retail experience preferred.
  • Manage your tasks efficiently, ensuring high responsiveness and client service.
  • Be eager to develop your legal skills and engage with innovation programs.
  • Be confident in drafting clear, effective legal documents and providing practical solutions.
  • Be inquisitive about clients' needs and drivers, delivering advice with quality and impact.
