Summary Hutton is a popular Voluntary Aided Church of England comprehensive school situated near Preston. The school admits boys only from 11-16 with 670 students currently on roll. The school also has a co-educational Sixth Form which offers a broad range of A level courses and currently has 132 students on roll. The school was judged ‘Good’ in all areas by Ofsted in May 2022 and received a positive report from SIAMS in January 2026 which recognised that “pupils and adults are individually known, nurtured and inspired”.

We are looking to appoint an outstanding reading specialist to further support and champion a love of reading at our school.

The role is to lead the development of our well resourced library, support the English department in their drive for reading excellence and support our pupils on their reading journey. The successful candidate will also be required to teach a small number of Key Stage 3 classes.

This position is part time, term time only, please note the salary quoted is full time equivalent. If successful, the salary received will be paid on a pro –rata basis.

Essential Qualifications
