Job summary

York Teaching Hospital Facilities Management is seeking a Catering Service Operative to support acute patient catering. You will deliver food trolleys, reheat meals, and maintain cleanliness and HACCP compliance, with the ability to work alone or as part of a team. Full training provided and enhanced weekend rates apply.

Ideal candidates bring catering experience and excellent customer service, with strong interpersonal and time-management skills to thrive in a busy NHS environment.

You must be able to use initiative, be self-motivated and have strong interpersonal and organisational/time management skills.

Applicants must be able to work under pressure, prioritise their own workload and be able to carry out physical tasks.

Duties include,but are not limited to:

  • Delivering food trollies to the ward areas.
  • Using ovens to regenerate food.
  • Keeping the kitchen areas clean.
  • Monitoring food temperatures as part of HACCP.
  • Washing up and other general cleaning duties.

The ideal candidate will have catering experience, be fantastic with customers, a good team player and able to work on their own unsupervised. Full training will also be provided. Enhanced rates apply when working at the weekend.
