Support the frontline work that keeps our customers safe and our network running

As our Support Engineer, you'll play a key role in supporting frontline repair activities across our gas network. This isn't just about responding to gas escapes – it's about helping deliver safe, efficient and reliable services for the millions of customers who depend on us every day.

Based in and around the Norwich/Suffolk area, you'll work closely with a Team Leader and wider operational teams to support emergency response, repairs and network maintenance activities. You'll gain valuable hands‑on experience while helping to protect our infrastructure, support customers and maintain high standards of safety and compliance.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys practical work, thrives in a team environment and is looking to build a long‑term career within a vital industry.

As this role requires the use of respiratory protective equipment, you'll need to be clean shaven each day in line with health and safety requirements. The role also includes participation in a 1-in-6 standby rota and associated call‑out responsibilities.

Why you'll love this role:
  • Frontline Network Support – Attend gas escapes and support repair activities that help keep customers and communities safe.
  • Varied Operational Work – Assist with groundwork, excavations, reinstatements and a range of network maintenance activities.
  • Safety First – Promote safe working practices, using appropriate signing, lighting, guarding and cable avoidance techniques.
  • Team Collaboration – Work closely with Team Leaders and operational colleagues to deliver high‑quality services.
  • Network Protection – Support patrol and plant protection activities that help safeguard Cadent assets.
  • Career Development – Benefit from structured training, funded learning and excellent opportunities to progress your career.
  • Reward & Benefits – Receive a company van, monthly performance bonus opportunities, excellent pension contributions and access to a wide range of employee benefits.
What you'll bring:
  • Customer Focus – A passion for delivering excellent service and supporting customers when they need it most.
  • Positive Attitude – Enthusiastic, reliable and motivated to learn and develop.
  • Safety Mindset – Commitment to working safely and following company procedures.
  • Teamwork Skills – Ability to work collaboratively within a high‑performing operational team.
  • Practical Capability – Comfortable working outdoors and undertaking physical activities, including excavations and reinstatement work.
  • Flexibility – Willingness to participate in a standby rota on a 1-in-6 rotation.
  • Driving Licence – A full UK driving licence is essential.
What you'll get in return:
  • Basic salary of £28,443 during training, increasing to £30,111 when fully qualified
  • Monthly performance bonus of up to £375
  • Company van
  • Free gym membership through our Gympass scheme
  • Virtual GP access
  • Funded learning and development opportunities
  • Excellent long‑term career prospects within Cadent

Interviews will be held shortly after the closing date.
