Job summary

Groundwork South in Heathfield is seeking a Sessional Senior Youth Worker to guide 9-16 year-olds in four-hour nature-based Holiday Food and Fun sessions during school holidays, on-site at Heathfield Youth Hub.

You will provide ad hoc cover for the Green Gardening Group on Fridays, engaging NEET young people in horticultural activities, and work with local services to ensure safeguarding and health and safety. DBS checks apply under safer recruitment guidelines.

Qualifications

• Safeguarding is a priority; adherence to safer recruitment practices is required.
• DBS checks and safeguarding training are required for all staff and volunteers.
• Experience with youth work or holiday activities is desirable.

Job description

Sessional Senior Youth Worker

The Sessional Senior Youth Worker will guide and support young people aged 9-16 participating in our four-hour nature-based Holiday Food and Fun activity sessions at Heathfield Youth Hub, providing a safe environment for young people to learn, grow and develop during the school holidays. Also to provide ad hoc cover for our Green Gardening Group on Fridays which engages NEET young people in horticultural and environmental activities.

The role will work in partnership with existing services already embedded in local communities to provide young people with opportunities through the HAF (Holiday Activities and Food) programme. The role will require implementing and quality assuring best practice procedures relating to session delivery, safeguarding and health and safety.
