NRL Ltd is seeking a Design Engineer in Watford to join an established in‑house design team. The role focuses on producing design calculations, reports and drawings for temporary and permanent works, with client interaction and ongoing professional development.

Based in Watford, the position offers hybrid working after a three‑month induction in the office. A few years of post‑graduate design experience is preferred, along with proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Tekla Tedds, and STAAD.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• A few years post‑graduate experience in design engineering.
• Experience producing design calculations, design checks, and risk assessments.
• Strong communication and client‑facing skills.
• Ability to commute to Watford.
• Experience with temporary works design.

Responsibilities

• Produce design calculations, reports, and technical drawings for temporary and permanent works.
• Undertake design checks and contribute to risk assessments.
• Liaise with clients, project managers, and construction teams to ensure efficient design delivery.
• Work with senior engineers to develop safe and innovative engineering solutions.

Joining a leading infrastructure contractor in Watford, this Design Engineer position offers the chance to work on challenging civil and structural engineering schemes. Location and Working Pattern

Based in Watford. Hybrid working is available following induction, with a minimum of three days per week in the office. The induction period requires full‑time office attendance for the first three months.

Client Overview

Our client is a major UK main contractor delivering large‑scale infrastructure and civil engineering projects nationwide. Their in‑house design team supports both temporary and permanent works, collaborating closely with site teams and clients to ensure robust engineering solutions.

Responsibilities
