Job summary

First Recruitment Group is seeking engineers in Glasgow with 3+ years' experience, including Temporary Works design. The role covers diverse projects in infrastructure, bridges and energy, with emphasis on delivering engineering excellence.

You’ll work on challenging designs, with opportunities for Chartered progression and hybrid working after probation. Excellent communication and client-facing skills are required.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• 3+ years' relevant industry experience.
• Strong civil and/or structural design capabilities.
• Understanding of BS 5975 and Eurocodes.
• Working towards Chartered status (ICE or IStructE).
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
• Ability to manage projects independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

• Temporary Works design in accordance with BS 5975 and Eurocodes.
• Design and assessment of steel, reinforced concrete and timber structures.
• Temporary propping schemes.
• Demolition stability assessments.
• Excavation support systems.
• Scaffold design.
• Productions of calculations, drawings and technical reports.
• Client-facing project delivery and stakeholder engagement.
• Site visits and technical support during construction phases.

Job description

This opportunity is open to engineers with 3+ years' experience, through to senior-level professionals. We are particularly interested in candidates with Temporary Works design experience, although we will also consider Senior Engineers with 7+ years' experience gained within infrastructure, bridges, energy, or related civil/structural engineering sectors.

The Role

You’ll work on a diverse portfolio of challenging projects, developing innovative design solutions and taking responsibility for delivering engineering excellence.

Key responsibilities include:

• Temporary Works design in accordance with BS 5975 and Eurocodes
• Design and assessment of steel, reinforced concrete and timber structures
• Temporary propping schemes
• Demolition stability assessments
• Excavation support systems
• Scaffold design
• Production of calculations, drawings and technical reports
• Client-facing project delivery and stakeholder engagement
• Site visits and technical support during construction phases

About You - You will ideally have:

• A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Minimum 3 years' relevant industry experience
