Job summary

Five Stacks Residential Home Ltd in Tendring, United Kingdom, is seeking a dedicated care assistant to support residents with personal care and daily living needs while upholding dignity and independence. Responsibilities

• Give support and care to residents whilst maintaining their rights to independence, privacy, dignity and choice and assist in their daily living needs.
• Assist all residents with personal care including washing, shaving, showering, bathing, oral care, dressing/undressing and toileting including incontinence.
• Support residents with mobility needs and use of aids and equipment including transferring needs.
• Support residents who may become unwell with psychological and physical needs.
• Monitor residents on wellbeing; inform senior staff of emergencies or concerns.
• Undertake the role of key worker; provide 1:1 sessions, reading, and arrange days out and social events.
• Make and change beds, tidy rooms, light cleaning and empty commodes.
• Dress the table for meals and assist with meals; serve meals and offer refreshments.
• Answer call bells, emergency bells, the door, and telephone; communicate information per procedures.
• Maintain residents’ records and ensure confidentiality; participate in meetings and required training.
• Be aware of building security and safety; perform other duties as assigned by the manager.

Job description

To share with other staff in meeting the personal care needs of residents in a way that Respects the dignity of the individual and promotes independence. To help in the care of the residents’ physical environment, emotional needs and in the general day to day activities of the home. To always take delegated responsibilities in the charge of the residents under your care to the appropriate level and safeguards residents.

• Give support and care to the residents whilst maintaining their rights to independence, privacy, dignity and choice and assist in their daily living needs.
• To assist all residents with all aspects of personal care including washing, shaving, showering, bathing, oral care , dressing/undressing and all toileting needs including incontinence.
• To support residents with their mobility needs and any other physical disabilities including the use and care of aids and personal equipment including transferring needs.
• Supporting residents who may become unwell with psychological and physical needs.
• Monitor the needs of the residents, informing a senior member of staff on duty of any emergency or concern about their well-being.
• Undertake the role of key worker under the supervision of a senior member of staff. E.g. giving one to one sessions , reading , arranging days out and social events.
• Make and change beds, tidy rooms, do light cleaning and empty commodes.
• Dress the table for meal times and supporting residents that require assistance with meals 1:1 basis. Serve meals to residents and complete all tea trolley tasks. Offer residents and visitors refreshments throughout the day.
• Answer call bells, emergency bells, the door, and the telephone:
• Receive, record and communicate information and messages in accordance with the home’s procedures.
• Maintain all residents’ records and give written / verbal reports, whilst ensuring confidentiality
• Take part in staff and residents’ meetings and in training activities as required. All training/ Mandatory training needs to be adhered too in a specific timeframe that will be given when training has been assigned too. Failure to complete training in specific time given will result in being taken off rota until training has been completed.
