Job summary

Mott MacDonald in Shifnal is seeking a Project Design Engineer (Civil) to lead the design of water and wastewater projects within a design-and-build environment. You will coordinate across civil, electrical, mechanical and process disciplines, ensuring timely, budget-conscious delivery and cross-team collaboration.

You will drive professional development toward chartership, and work across the Mott MacDonald Bentley JV with opportunities across JN Bentley colleagues to deliver high-impact

Qualifications

  • Accredited Degree in Civil Engineering required.
  • Incorporated Member of Engineering Institution preferred.
  • Experience in outline and detailed design of water or wastewater projects.
  • Familiarity with Designer/Principal Designer duties under CDM 2015.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of treatment or infrastructure projects from outline to detailed design and through construction.
  • Coordinate civil, electrical, mechanical and process designers, BIM modelers and specialists.
  • Mentor less experienced colleagues and build strong client relationships.
  • Ensure designs are delivered on programme, within budget and to specifications.

What does a Project Design Engineer
  • Working as part of a “project triangle” alongside a Site Manager and Quantity Surveyor to ensure that technical, constructability and commercial aspects of project delivery are considered throughout.
  • Leading the design of treatment or infrastructure projects from the initial outline to detailed design, through construction, commissioning, and handover
  • Coordinating the project team including civil, electrical, mechanical and process designers, BIM modelers and technical specialists and ensure designs are completed on programme, within budget, and to the quality defined by each framework and industry specifications
  • Undertake design in own discipline and mentor less experienced colleagues where appropriate
  • Building positive relationships with the clients’ project, operational and technical assurance teams and promote a "one-team" approach
What you’ll need:
