ATG Entertainment’s Colonnade Bar in Brighton is seeking enthusiastic staff to join on a zero-hour contract. You’ll work with the Events and Operations Manager and Bar Supervisors to create a welcoming environment for diverse guests across pub and theatre settings.

Interviews are on 28th September with shifts varying by theatre programme. A strong customer-service mindset, team spirit, and a passion for the arts will help you thrive in this busy role at a Grade II listed venue.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and engage with the diverse audiences of Brighton, ensuring they feel genuinely welcomed as valuable customers.
  • Interact with pub customers, theatre customers and visiting companies at the theatre.
  • Proactively upsell products and adapt approach to a wide demographic.
  • Know and understand sales goals and work to exceed them.
  • Maintain bar procedures with daily checks and cleaning.
  • Complete regular online and in-person training to stay confident in procedures.
  • Collaborate with pub and theatre teams to operate at the highest standard.
  • Be aware of licensing objectives, Health & Safety, and Risk Procedures.
  • Set up and close the pub, restock, arrange furniture and clean.
  • Identify tasks needing done and take responsibility for completing them.

Job description

As part of the team at the Colonnade Bar, you’ll report to the Events and Operations Manager. You’ll work closely with the Pub Supervisors operationally on shift to create the best environment for all our guests. All Colonnade Bar Staff roles are Zero-Hour Contracts with an expected availability of minimum 2-5 shifts per week. The number of shifts varies depending on the theatre’s programme and seasonal changes, and we will be very busy from Autumn to December. The Colonnade is also supported by several theatre teams including the Cellar Team, Customer Experience Team, Maintenance Team, Marketing Team and the Technical Team.

The Colonnade bar is a Grade II listed building in the heart of the city. In March 2024, the restoration of the Colonnade and the Theatre Royal was completed and the pub has since run both independently and alongside the theatre bars. It's a local’s favourite, known for our cosy atmosphere, unique aesthetic, seasonal cocktails and a variety of events.

Key responsibilities

  • Have a friendly and warm communication style and be able to interact with customers, from pub customers, theatre customers and visiting companies at the theatre.
  • Proactively suggest and upsell products, adjusting your engaging and personable approach to the wide demographic of our customers.
  • Know and understand our sales goals and work to exceed them.
  • Maintain good bar procedures by completing daily checks and cleaning.
  • Complete regular online and in-person training to be confident in all procedures.
  • Work well with the pub and wider theatre team to ensure that we are operating at the highest standard.
  • Have awareness of licensing objectives, Health & Safety, and Risk Procedures.
