Job summary

Avery Healthcare Group is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support the catering function in food preparation and maintain a clean environment for safe production of meals and beverages for residents.

You will work as part of a caring team, following hygiene and safety standards, assisting with supplies and stock, and interacting respectfully with residents and visitors. A Basic Food Hygiene Certificate and DBS disclosure are required and costs may be met by Avery.

Qualifications

  • Hold Basic Food Hygiene Certificate and demonstrates high standard of personal hygiene.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety, particularly Moving and Handling techniques, Fire Safety and COSHH assessments.
  • Be an efficient worker with a high level of sustained physical effort and able to handle a demanding workload.
  • Demonstrate initiative and a flexible, team-oriented approach.
  • Exhibit a caring and understanding attitude towards residents.

Responsibilities

  • Understand the principles of safe food handling to maintain hygiene in all food prep.
  • Contribute to team working, respond to colleagues, and carry out work instructions promptly.
  • Advise on supply and quality of items, ensuring timely ordering of replacements.
  • Act toward residents and visitors with respect for dignity and individuality.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Your focus as Kitchen Assistant is tosupport

Other responsibilitieswillinclude:
  • Understandingthe principles of safe food handling, to ensure all food preparations undertaken in the kitchen is to the highest standards of hygiene.
  • Contributingfully to team working, responding positively tocolleagues,and actioning all reasonable work instructions promptly.
  • Advisingon the supply and quality of items used to carry out tasks, ensuring thetimelyandappropriate orderingof replacement goods.
  • Actingaccordingly towards residents and their visitors, respecting the dignity and individuality of each resident.
