Job summary

The Lighthouse Schools Partnership is seeking Local Governance Professionals to support governance across its multi-academy trust. The role blends remote work with attendance at school sites, and requires enthusiastic administration, precise record-keeping and proactive engagement with school leaders and governors.

This part-time, term-time plus inset days position offers flexibility, a strong central team, and opportunities for professional development within a rapidly growing MAT.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare agendas with Chair and Headteacher for focused meetings.

  • Act as liaison between governing body, leaders and the trust.
  • Contribute to strategic oversight and school improvement.
  • Engage with the Local Governance Professionals network for training.

Hours: Subject to discussion, multiple positions availableContract: Part Time, Term Time plus 5 Inset days and 10 additional days, PermanentSalary: JG5, SCP12 to SCP19, £28,598 - £32,061Actual Salary: Dependent on hours We are looking for dynamic and motivated individuals to join our Trust as Local Governance Professionals. Local Governance Professionals play a vital role in supporting the effective governance of our schools, acting as an administrator and impartial advisor to ensure our Local Governing Bodies operate efficiently and accountably.To undertake this role successfully you will need to be totally committed to the provision of a high-quality support service to our governors and school leadership teams. You will have strong administrative experience, excellent communication skills and a proactive attitude. You will be highly organized with a sharp eye for detail and a willingness to learn and develop. You will need to build and maintain strong and effective working relationships across our network of schools.If you think that you have the skills and enthusiasm to carry out this role, we would love to hear from you. This position offers excellent flexibility with a blend of remote working and school-site attendance to fit around your other commitments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparing agendas in consultation with the Chair and Headteacher to ensure meetings are structured and focused
  • Accurately recording and distributing meeting minutes to document the decisions and actions of the Local Governing Body
  • Maintaining statutory records to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks
  • Offering procedural and legislative guidance to governors to support lawful and transparent operations
  • Acting as a key liaison between the governing body, the school's leadership team and the wider trust
  • Contributing significantly to the strategic oversight and continuous improvement of the school
  • Participating in the wider network of Local Governance Professionals to share knowledge and engage in ongoing training
