Job summary

HCRG Care Group Holdings Limited is seeking a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join the Health Visiting Team delivering preventative health care to children and families in Wiltshire. The role is part-time (22.5 hours) and will work across B&NES as part of a skilled public health team.

The post requires NMC registration, experience with children and families, and a driving license. You will contribute to safeguarding and promote health within the community setting under supervision.

We are looking for a dedicated and motivated Band 5 Staff Nurse. The Staff Nurse is a registered nurse working as part of the Health Visiting Team providing preventative and supportive health care to children and families in Wiltshire. This includes the identification, monitoring and provision of targeted support to vulnerable children and those whose welfare and safety may be at risk. Our Staff Nurses work as a member of the Health Visiting Team maintaining a public health focus under the supervision of a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN) to deliver the Healthy Programme in a variety of settings including the home and community venues as delegated by the Health Visitor. All allocated work is completed within the designated competency framework. Base Our Healthy Family Teams support our Wiltshire-wide service, and you will based at one of the 3 main hubs In Wiltshire and supported by agile and mobile working. This is a part-time role working 22.5 hours Term Time Only.

Main Responsibilities

Work across B&NES to contribute to the identification of population health needs in line with the organisations policies and priorities. Carry out public health work delegated by the Specialist Community Public Health Nurses, (School Nurse) and Clinical Team Leaders, as part of a skill mix team, led by the Professional Lead. Work in partnership with children, families, parents and carers to identify health needs in order to negotiate appropriate intervention from the B&NES Child and Family Health Service or other relevant agencies. Deliver drop-ins, health education sessions, needs-led interventions, information provision and signposting/introduction to other agencies to support and empower children, young people and families to take ownership of and manage their health care. Essential
  • NMC registration in a field of nursing.
  • Experience in working with children and families.
  • Holds a full UK driving license and has access to a vehicle for work purposes.
  • Knowledge of national and local policy in Childrens Service and Public Health.
  • Understanding of child development.
  • Able to demonstrate a commitment and ability to promote and safeguard the welfare of children and families with the skills to build sustainable professional boundaries.

  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of behaviour change theory and methods
  • Mentorship qualification
  • Experience of working in community health care settings
  • Experience of working as part of a skill mix team
