Job summary

Fawkes & Reece, based in Rochdale with site coverage across the North West, are looking for a Quantity Surveyor to strengthen their regional team. You will manage procurement, subcontractor and material orders, and produce detailed cashflow forecasts and CVRs to keep contracts on budget.

The role offers a clear progression path within the business and a competitive package including a car allowance.

Responsibilities

  • Procure sub-contractors and suppliers for all contracts under their control.
  • Place sub-contract orders in line with programme requirements with best price.
  • Place material orders and ensure records are saved and provided to finance.
  • Produce accurate monthly CVRs and cost forecasts for schemes.
  • Maintain cost budgets and update CVR accordingly.
  • Maximise client valuations within contract terms to support cash flow.
  • Manage variations and ensure timely pricing and certification.

Job description

We are working with an award winning Social Housing Contractor, who are well established throughout the North West and work across Refurbishment & Maintenance to tenanted Social Housing properties throughout the region.

The company work across schemes such as Kitchen & Bathrooms, Windows, Roofing, Retrofit & Decarbonisation under SHDF.

The company have a healthy pipeline of work and get regular repeat business from their clients due to the standard of service they provide. They focus on providing excellent customer service and the quality of the work they do. They also work across a number of established frameworks.

They are looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join them to be based in their regional offices in Rochdale, and covering sites across the North West region. This is a great opportunity for a candidate who wants to progress and develop their career with lots of opportunity to move upwards within the business.

Reporting to the Commercial Director, your duties will include:

  • Manage the Procurement of sub-contractors and suppliers on all contracts under the QS's control.
  • Placing all sub-contract orders in line with programme requirements, ensuring best price and contract adherence are achieved.
  • Placing material orders in line with programme requirements, ensuring that all records are saved appropriately & details provided to finance.
  • Comply with all deadlines
  • Provide accurate and fully detailed cashflow & revenue forecasts for all schemes under the QS's control.
  • Ensure a cost budget for each project is produced prior to works commencing. Constantly update the cost budget for the scheme within the monthly contract CVR process.
  • Produce accurate monthly CVRs for each project, ensuring all cost heads have been reviewed for current costs and forecasted end of day costs.
  • Ensure variations to the contract are captured and agreed with clients within a timely manner. Same applies with supply chain variations. All variations must be reviewed, and prices agreed before any certification within sub-contract valuations.
  • Submit fully reviewed sub-contract valuations within the contractual timescales laid out in the sub-contract order. Allow for all legal notifications required and the adhere to the deadlines of such.
  • Ensure client valuations are submitted in line with contract terms. Valuations are to be maximized ensuring that each contract remains in the best possible cash position.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a stable and progressive career history as a Quantity Surveyor, within the Social Housing sector ideally.

The salary is between £50-55k, depending on your experience + car allowance and package
