Job summary

Compass Community Schools in Newton-le-Willows is opening a new provision and seeks a Computer Science/IT specialist for KS2 to GCSE delivery. You will plan, deliver, and adapt a curriculum across Key Stages, ensuring inclusive practice and high aspiration for all pupils.

The successful candidate will have QTS/QTLS/PGCE, a proven teaching record, and the ability to teach Computing to BTEC/GCSE or equivalent. Experience with SEMH and crisis management is valued.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver a curriculum spanning KS2, Entry Level, Functional Skills, KS3, BTEC and GCSE.
• Teach Computing/CS with high aspirations and inclusive practices.
• Collaborate with staff to support pupils with SEMH and ACE experiences.
• Engage families and maintain safeguarding and welfare commitments.

Compass Community Schools is proud to announce the opening of a brand new school in Newton-le‑Willows, set to welcome its first pupils in January 2027.

This exciting new provision reflects Compass Community Schools’ ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality, inclusive education for children and young people with special educational needs.

TheRole We require a Computer Science / IT specialist with the experience and ability to plan and deliver a curriculum that spans Key Stage 2, Entry Level, Functional Skills, Key Stage 3, BTEC and GCSE. No matter what accreditations each of our children and young people pursue, we maintain high aspirations for our children - regardless of their learning journey - and don’t underestimate the importance of qualifications to provide our children with the best life chances and opportunities.

The Right Person

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) / QTLS or Post Graduate Education Certificate (PGCE)
• A proven record of exceptional teaching.
• An excellent, efficient and emotionally intelligent communicator.
• The ability/willingness to teach a subject specialism (Computing, Computer Science and/or E-Sports) to BTEC, GCSE or equivalent vocational level.
• A strong desire to work inclusively within an emotionally literate environment, supporting children who have experienced adverse childhood experiences (ACEs).
• Experience of crisis-management/managing challenging behaviours and working with children with SEMH difficulties.
• Proven experience of implementing a creative and academically engaging curriculum which meets the needs of individual pupils, whilst maintaining high standards of education.
• Experience of effective working with hard-to-reach or disengaged families.
