East Ayrshire Council is inviting applications for an Early Learning & Childcare Support Assistant at New Cumnock ECC. This permanent, part-time, term-time post offers 20 hours per week (Mon-Fri, 10:00am-2:00pm) with a full-time salary range of £27,937–£29,247 or a pro-rated part-time range of £13,692–£14,334 per annum.

The role requires PVG scheme membership for regulated work with children, with references from current or previous employers, and adherence to Safer Recruitment guidance.

Qualifications

  • PVG Scheme membership required for Regulated Work with children or protected adults.
  • Two appropriate and relevant references required, one from current or most recent employer.
  • Current or most recent employer reference must be from an appropriate senior manager.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake safeguarding checks and PVG Scheme requirements as part of pre-employment checks.
  • Support delivery of early learning and childcare within New Cumnock ECC, following national guidance.
  • Provide references during the application process and liaise with line manager as necessary.

Job description

Early Learning & Childcare Support Assistant, New Cumnock ECC - EAY12864

Assist with a range of supports that focus on providing nurturing care and promoting the learning and development of all children within the Early Childhood Centre. The needs and unique circumstances of each child will shape the response and approach to this. All work undertaken is child centred, promotes independence and creativity and seeks to support the promotion, delivery and integration of the Council’s key objectives as they relate to early learning and child care.

There is a requirement to be flexible in Early Childhood Centre location within East Ayrshire to meet the needs of children. There is a requirement of the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service and the organisation.

Requirements

The duties of the post involve Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Successful applicants for such posts will be required to become a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme member in respect of Regulated Work with either or both of these groups as appropriate, or if they are already a Scheme member, be subject to a PVG Scheme Record Update, before any formal offer of employment can be made by East Ayrshire Council.

Please note:- PVG members' records are constantly updated with any new vetting information that arises. Any information that is disclosed on a PVG Scheme Record or Scheme Record Update, if relevant to the post being applied for, will be discussed with the applicant prior to any formal offer of employment being made.

Responsibilities

We follow the national guidance in relation to pre-employment checks namely “Safer Recruitment Through Better Recruitment”. With regards to requests for references and in line with this guidance, during your application process you should provide details of a minimum of two appropriate and relevant references, one of which should be from your current or most recent employer. It is also a requirement that the reference from your current or most recent employer is from an appropriate senior manager and it is not a reference from a former peer operating at the same level.

The Individual

This is a permanent part time term time post based within New Cumnock Early Childhood Centre.

The hours of work are 20 hours per week to be worked Monday - Friday 10.00am - 2.00pm at the direction of the line manager.

The full time salary of the post is between £27,937 - £29,247 per annum.

The actual part time term time salary is between £13,692 - £14,334 per annum.
