Job description

2x Personal Assistant / Support Worker-PUR-710-081

I am a semi-retired professional woman, aged 57. I am autistic and live with chronic, complex health conditions, including a spinal condition and inflammatory arthritis. These affect my mobility, energy and ability to manage everyday activities.

My support needs may not always be visible because I mask heavily, and it may not be obvious how much I am struggling. My capacity varies from day to day, but having consistent support helps me maintain my independence and manage everyday life. Having regular help in my home is new to me, so I may need some time to adjust and build trust.

I share my home with a small, very friendly and enthusiastic dog, Frank, and a cat. Both are very important to me.

I enjoy music and singing, and I used to be in a band. I love my garden, watching the birds and being out in nature. I also enjoy sewing, crafting and cooking. With your support, I hope to have more energy and opportunity for the things that make me happy.

What you would be doing

Your role will involve practical support with everyday life, helping me maintain my independence and manage my home. Tasks will vary and will include:

  • Household tasks: cleaning, including the kitchen and bathroom, general tidying, hoovering, managing bins, and changing and making my bed.
  • Laundry: washing, drying, folding and putting away clothes and bedding.
  • Organisation and decluttering: helping me organise my belongings, work through clutter and keep everyday items accessible.
  • Planning and admin: helping me organise tasks, paperwork and appointments, and providing practical admin support when needed.
  • Shopping: helping with shopping lists, online orders, shopping trips and putting purchases away.
  • Food preparation: helping me prepare fresh meals and batch cook. I follow a restrictive diet because of my health conditions, so having suitable food available is important.
  • Personal care: preparing things so I can manage as independently and safely as possible, with some direct support, including help with my hair, when needed.
  • Commode care: helping me empty and clean my commode.
  • Community support: accompanying me to appointments and enjoyable activities, helping me access the community, joining me and Frank on walks or trips to the field, and safely lifting and loading my mobility equipment into and out of a vehicle.
The person I would like

I am looking for someone warm and friendly who is honest, kind, patient, attentive and reliable. A positive, can-do attitude and a good sense of humour are important to me. You will need good organisational skills, good timekeeping and good personal hygiene, as well as the initiative to recognise what needs doing.
