Job summary

Military Medical Personnel is seeking a Locum Community Mental Health Practitioner to deliver an outpatient, occupation-focused mental health service for Ministry of Defence personnel at MHT Preston in Preston, Lancashire.

The role is a locum 25.5 hours per week, delivering high-quality care with a caseload of complex cases, collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, and ongoing clinical supervision and liaison with Medical Officers and General Practitioners.

Responsibilities

• Provide an outpatient occupationally focused community mental health service within their area of responsibility (AOR) of the DCMH/liaison role.
• Manage a caseload of complex cases in line with experience and specialist knowledge.
• Carry out complex mental health assessments and reviews for personnel referred to the DCMH.
• Maintain contemporaneous electronic records and clinical notes of all client contact.
• Provide reports to and liaise with Medical Officers, General Practitioners and other relevant professionals.
• Participate in clinical supervision and caseload management for junior mental health clinicians.
• Provide supervision for secondary and tertiary clinical interventions.
• Be part of the MDT and participate in departmental meetings and lead initiatives as directed.
• Recognise limits of competence and seek supervision as appropriate.
• Deliver up-to-date, evidence-based interventions for mental health problems per NICE and NTA guidance.

We are looking for a Locum Community Mental Health Practitioner to cover an assignment with the Ministry of Defence (MoD), at MHT Preston, in Preston, Lancashire.

This is a locum role (25.5 hours per week) and the successful candidate will deliver an exceptional standard of care to the MoD service personnel.

Pay rate:

Hourly rate - £30.64 per hour

Job Description:

• To provide an outpatient occupationally focused community mental health service within their area of responsibility (AOR) of the Department of Community Mental Health (DCMH)/liaison role. This will include leading in the organisation and delivery of high intensity therapeutic interventions, educational, training and mental health promotion regimes in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary mental health team at the DCMH.
• To manage a caseload of complex cases in line with the experience and specialist knowledge held.
• To carry out complex mental health assessments and subsequent reviews for personnel referred to the DCMH.
• To have continued responsibility for an identified case load by reviewing client needs by providing flexible and individualised care packages to meet the mental health needs of military personnel with mental health problems.
• To maintain contemporaneous accurate electronic records and clinical notes of all client contact.
• To provide reports to and maintain liaison with Medical Officers (MOs), General Practitioners and other relevant professional agencies.
• To participate in and provide clinical supervision and caseload management for more junior mental health clinicians.
• To provide supervision for secondary and tertiary clinical interventions.
• To be an integral part of the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) and participate in departmental clinical and business meetings and take the lead in initiatives as directed by the Network or Team Manager.
• To recognise limits of competence and seek clinical supervision and/or advice as appropriate.
• To have an in-depth knowledge of Health Governance (HG) and the ability to lead on specific domains as directed by the HG lead.
• To deliver up to date, evidence-based interventions for mental health problems based on guidance from the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) and the National Treatment Agency (NTA).
