High Life Highland is seeking a dynamic individual to promote a positive workplace culture and enhance sport and physical activity opportunities within school and community settings. Responsibilities

  • Actively promote a positive and collaborative workplace culture to increase morale, productivity and performance.
  • Increase the quality and range of sport and physical activity opportunities before/after school and at lunch.
  • Develop pathways between school and sport clubs to support transitions to club sport.
  • Recruit, retain and develop volunteers, coaches, leaders and teachers delivering opportunities in school and club sport.
  • Increase youth volunteering as sport leaders and coaches in school and club settings.
  • Boost participation among under-represented groups including girls, young women and disabled children/youth.
  • Collaborate with education and sports staff to connect Active Schools to PE, school sport and club sport.
  • Deliver programmes to profile sport and motivate children and young people to get involved.
  • Support Active Scotland initiatives such as Positive Coaching Scotland, Fit for Girls, Young Ambassadors and Community Sport Hubs.
  • Source funding opportunities and manage a budget for the Active Schools annual action plan.
  • Coordinate extended curricular opportunities for physical activity and sport in school and wider community.
  • Pursue CPD and contribute to High Life Highland’s continuous improvement.
  • Attend and undertake training online or in person.
  • Aim to reduce wastage and uphold sustainable/environmental values in all tasks.
  • Assist other HLH areas with projects or holidays/sickness, working across the HLH team.
  • Maintain awareness of risk management per HLH policies.

Job description

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
  • Actively promote a positive and collaborative workplace culture that supports the Charity’s purpose of Making Life Better and i-care values to increase morale, productivity and performance.
  • Increase the quality and range of sport & physical activity opportunities offered before and after school and during lunch;
  • Develop effective pathways between school and sport clubs to support the transition from school to club sport;
  • Recruit, retain and develop a network of volunteers, coaches, leaders and teachers who in turn deliver opportunities in school sport and club sport;
  • Increase the number of young people engaging in volunteering as sport leaders and coaches in both school and club settings;
  • Increase participation amongst under-represented groups including girls and young women and children and young people with a disability;
  • Work in partnership with education and sports development staff to ensure Active Schools opportunities are connected to physical education, school sport and club sport;
  • Deliver programmes designed to profile sport and motivate children and young people to get involved.
  • Support the development and delivery of sportscotland led initiatives including Positive Coaching Scotland, Fit for Girls, Young Ambassadors and Community Sport Hubs;
  • Source additional funding opportunities to further enhance Active Schools as well as managing and allocating an operational budget to an agreed Active Schools annual action plan;
  • Coordinate and develop extended curricular opportunities for physical activity and sport in the school and the wider community.
  • Pursue continuous professional development and contribute to the continuous improvement of High Life Highland as a whole.
  • Attend and undertake any training online or in person.
  • Aim to reduce wastage and uphold our environmental values of being as sustainable as possible in all tasks.
  • Assist and support other areas of High Life Highland with particular projects, training or in the event of holidays or sickness working cross-functionally across the High Life Highland team.
  • Maintain an awareness and knowledge of the risk management responsibilities appropriate to their role, as identified within the HLH Risk Policy and associated guidance documentation.
