Job summary

Limetree Nursery and After School Club Ltd is seeking a dedicated nursery practitioner to join the team in providing high-quality care and learning experiences for children. Responsibilities

  • To work as a member of the Nursery team and to establish caring, effective relationships with children, staff and parents.
  • To take on the role and undertake the duties of a keyperson.
  • To observe children’s learning, and in consultation with the Nursery team, to plan appropriate learning experiences for the children based on the information gathered.
  • To contribute to the recording and reporting of assessment information.
  • To encourage children’s language development and to be aware of ways to stimulate language through play, books, stories and personal interaction.
  • To be responsible for working with children in both the indoor and outdoor play areas.
  • To encourage the children to participate in the preparation of snacks and, when involved in supervising mealtimes, to be aware of the social and emotional needs of the children.
  • To undertake procedures relating to the personal care and hygiene of individual children where necessary.
  • To be responsible for small groups of children on organised outings.
  • To safeguard the health, safety, wellbeing and welfare of the children.
  • To be able to contribute individual skills and interests in music, drama, movement, literature and environmental studies as appropriate.
  • To be responsible for setting up and clearing equipment in indoor and outdoor areas and to contribute to the basic maintenance and care of equipment.
  • To participate in out of hours staff meetings in order to ensure the smooth and efficient running and ongoing development of the Nursery.
  • To take part in the Nursery staff development programme and Professional Review and Development Programme.
  • To carry out other reasonable duties assigned by the Nursery Manager
