Job summary

Randstad Education is seeking a Cover Supervisor for the Southampton area to support secondary schools across Hampshire. This role offers hands-on classroom experience for recent graduates aiming to become teachers, with a clear route into PGCE or SCITT programs.

You'll supervise KS3 and KS4 classes during teacher absences, maintain a positive learning environment, deliver pre-set work, and help with student progress and behaviour in a supportive school setting.

Qualifications

• Education: Degree level or higher education qualification. Recent graduates encouraged to apply!
• Experience: Practical experience working with young people, such as tutoring, youth work, sports coaching, mentoring, or volunteering.
• Skills: Confidence, strong communication abilities, resilience, and a proactive attitude.
• Requirements: An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for a new one).

Responsibilities

• Supervise secondary school students (Key Stages 3 & 4) across various subjects during teacher absences.
• Maintain a positive, orderly, and productive classroom environment where students feel supported.
• Deliver prepared work set by the department and ensure students stay on task.
• Collect completed work and provide constructive feedback on student progress and behaviour.
