Job summary

The Woodland Trust is seeking a Carbon Project Officer to support the management of carbon projects across our estate and third-party Woodland and Peatland code initiatives. This hybrid role combines home working with office time at our Grantham head office, with monthly attendance and occasional travel.

You will produce documentation, manage data, analyse technical information, and maintain project records while engaging with internal teams, landowners and auditors to ensure successful delivery

Qualifications

  • Experience in carbon project management and reporting preferred
  • Knowledge of Woodland Carbon Code and Peatland Code advantageous
  • Stakeholder liaison and data interpretation skills

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple carbon project workstreams ensuring deadlines and high standards
  • Produce Woodland Carbon Code and Peatland Code documentation including design documents, cashflows, calculations, mapping and plans
  • Develop specialist knowledge of carbon standards and markets and communicate implications
  • Analyse and present complex datasets to support development and decision-making
  • Create and maintain accurate project records, trackers and databases
  • Build relationships with internal teams, landowners, auditors, regulators and stakeholders
  • Plan and undertake site surveys, validations and verifications with technical support
  • Advise on Woodland Trust's carbon offer and manage inquiries clearly to diverse audiences

Job description

The Woodland Trust is looking for a Carbon Project Officer. The Carbon Project Officer will support the project management of the Trust’s estate and third-party carbon Woodland and Peatland code projects, in turn supporting Operations teams to deliver carbon on the ground and meet long term carbon code requirements.

The Role:

Manage multiple carbon project workstreams simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met and work is delivered to a consistently high standard.

Produce high-quality Woodland Carbon Code and Peatland Code project documentation, including project design documents, cashflows, carbon calculations, mapping, management plans, monitoring plans and risk assessments.

Develop specialist knowledge of carbon standards and markets, staying informed on industry developments and communicating their implications across the organisation.

Analyse, interpret and present complex datasets and technical information to support project development, reporting and decision-making.

Create and maintain accurate project records, trackers and databases, ensuring effective project management, reporting and compliance.

Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, landowners, auditors, regulators and other stakeholders to support the successful delivery of carbon projects.

Plan and undertake site surveys, validations and verifications, providing technical expertise and support throughout the carbon project lifecycle.

Act as a trusted source of advice on the Woodland Trust's carbon offer, managing enquiries and communicating complex information clearly to a range of audiences.

This is a hybrid position with a mix of home working and from our head office in Grantham, Lincolnshire. Head office attendance would be required once a month on average. Occasional travel to other offices and remote locations may also be required.
