Job summary

Porvair Filtration in Fareham is offering a Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship (Level 3). This full-time on-site role supports daily lab operations and provides early exposure to a wide range of analytical techniques while completing a formal qualification.

You will prepare samples, analyse data with Excel, compile test reports, and help maintain calibration databases, purchasing lab supplies, and safety compliance. Practical work includes SEM/EDX, microscopy, and various quality tests.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship level 3 in Laboratory Technician or equivalent
• Interest in laboratory science and practical lab work
• Ability to follow safety and QA procedures

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze filters, media and materials to assess performance and quality.
• Analyse and present data using Excel.
• Compile test reports for internal and external customers.
• Communicate with external customers and internal teams via email/Teams.
• Maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment.
• Administer Technical Services calibration and calibration database.
• Procure lab supplies.
• Manage credit card administration.
• Conduct SEM/EDX, microscope and image analysis for contaminants and quality.
• Perform tensile strength, permeability and related tests.

Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship (Level 3) - Porvair Filtration

We are pleased to offer an opportunity for a Laboratory Technician Apprentice to join the team to support day-to-day lab operations and provide technical assistance to ensure smooth and efficient workflows.

This apprenticeship provides a strong foundation for a future career in laboratory science, offering opportunities to develop a broad range of technical and scientific skills in a supportive environment:

Preparation and analysis of filters, media and materials to establish performance/ build quality/ effects of operating environment.

Analyse and present collected data using Excel.

Compile test reports for internal and external customers.

Communicate effectively with external customers and internal team verbally and via email / teams

Maintain a clean and safe working environment.

Administration of Technical Services Calibration and Calibration Database

Lab Supply Purchasing

Administration of Credit Card

Practical work includes but not limited to:

SEM / EDX, Microscope and digital Image analysis for contaminants and build quality.

Tensile strength, permeability, bubble point, sulphate reducing bacteria, bead challenge, Strauss Intergranular Corrosion resistance, corrosion analysis and Porometry testing.
