Job summary

Medacs Healthcare is seeking a Consultant Ophthalmologist with extensive corneal/external disease experience for a locum post in the NHS and private settings. Full GMC registration and NHS experience are essential, with strong cataract surgery skills and the ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team.

• Subspecialty interest such as oculoplastic, cornea, glaucoma or medical retina.
• Teaching or supervisory experience.
• Involvement in audit, quality improvement or research activity.

Consultant Ophthalmologist with significant experience in the management and treatment of Corneal / External Diseases.

About You

You're a clinically confident Ophthalmology Consultant with strong surgical skills and up‑to‑date knowledge across general ophthalmology and cataract surgery. You value teamwork, communicate clearly and take pride in delivering a positive patient experience.

You're committed to maintaining high standards of care, working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and contributing to continuous service improvement.

Full GMC registration with a licence to practise

Minimum six months recent NHS experience

Strong cataract surgery experience and broad general ophthalmology competence

Evidence of ongoing continuous professional development

Clear and confident communication skills

Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Compassionate, patient-centered approach

Subspecialty interest such as oculoplastic, cornea, glaucoma or medical retina
