Summit Medical is looking for a proactive and practical Facility Caretaker to join our Engineering team, reporting to the Engineering Manager.

This is a varied, hands‑on role responsible for the day‑to‑day upkeep of our site, ensuring our facilities and grounds are maintained to a high standard and remain clean, safe and professional.

As the sole Facility Caretaker, you will have the autonomy to organise and prioritise your workload, carrying out routine cleaning and maintenance, conducting site checks, coordinating external contractors and addressing minor repairs and facilities issues.

You’ll play an important role in keeping the site running smoothly and supporting colleagues across our office and manufacturing areas.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out routine cleaning across the site, including bathrooms and canteen areas, and manage recycling and rubbish.
• Complete general facilities maintenance, including minor repairs and practical jobs such as basic plumbing, non‑specialist electrical repairs and replacing air filters within the cleanroom.
• Identify issues and arrange external contractors, such as plumbers and electricians, where specialist work is required.
• Manage and coordinate supplier visits in line with the external maintenance schedule, including air‑conditioning servicing, safety inspections and equipment calibration.
• Maintain the grounds, including gardening, general tidying and keeping external areas presentable.
• Carry out routine site checks and identify and address maintenance issues where appropriate.
• Undertake building locking and unlocking and provide call‑out support when required to cover staff holidays. This may include early morning or evening attendance, approximately 6am or 7pm. Flexi‑time is standard, with additional call‑out payments available.
• Carry out routine fire alarm testing.
• Support, initiate and lead Continuous Improvement projects where required.
• Work safely at all times and comply with Summit Medical's Health & Safety policies, procedures and statutory requirements.
• Maintain a professional, helpful and collaborative approach when working with colleagues, contractors and suppliers.
