Job summary

Perth & Kinross Council is recruiting for a Driver/Handyperson to join Dalweem Residential care home in Aberfeldy. The role includes occasional mini-bus driving and various ancillary duties to keep the home clean, safe and welcoming for residents.

A full UK driving licence with D1 entitlement and MIDAS driver training are required, along with reliability and adaptability to change. Training in Health & Safety will be provided.

  • Basic knowledge of Health & Safety; training will be provided.
  • Ability to work in a team or independently while using initiative.

Driver / Handyperson - PKC14250

As a result of a retri­al we have a vacancy for a handy person and the role will include occasional driving.

Dalweem Residential care home is a busy and homely care home that supports older people to lead active and valued lives. Dalweem is set in the beautiful town of Aberfeldy in Highland Perthshire.

We are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic and reliable person to drive our mini-bus and transport clients to/from appointments and to/from activities in the wider community, please note though that this will not be the main part of the role.

The role also includes various ancillary duties within the care home to ensure it is clean, welcoming and safe at all times.

You will carry out safety checks regularly to ensure the health and safety of the residents/staff within the care home.

Please note, we are currently unable to offer sponsorship for this post.

Skills & Experience Required

We require a handy person / driver with a can do attitude who is flexible and adaptable in their approach.

You will have a basic knowledge of Health & Safety although training will be given.

You will be able to work as part of a team or on your own using your initiative to deal with situations that need to be dealt with quickly or that could potentially cause harm.

You must have a full UK driving licence with D1 entitlement and be willing to undertake MIDAS driver training.

You must be extremely reliable, flexible and able to cope with continuous change.

Ideally you will have experience of working with older people and supporting people with dementia.
