Job summary

Sterling Recruitment Solutions Ltd is seeking a reliable Reactive Maintenance Engineer with a strong carpentry background to carry out reactive maintenance and repairs across a portfolio of busy retail premises in Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire. You will diagnose faults, undertake carpentry, joinery and plumbing tasks, handle plastic waste pipework, and travel regularly to sites.

Evening and out-of-hours work may be required.

Qualifications

• Strong carpentry and joinery experience - essential.
• Competent plumbing skills, including waste pipework - essential.
• Experience in reactive maintenance or facilities maintenance.
• Ability to diagnose faults and implement practical solutions.
• Full UK driving licence and own van.

Responsibilities

• Carry out reactive maintenance and repairs across retail sites.
• Diagnose faults and identify practical solutions with minimal supervision.
• Undertake general carpentry, joinery and building maintenance.
• Repair and replace doors, frames, ironmongery, fixtures and fittings.
• Carry out plumbing repairs and maintenance.
• Install, repair and replace plastic waste pipework and associated fittings.
• Investigate and clear blocked waste pipes and foul-waste systems.
• Diagnose and resolve drainage and wastewater issues.
• Maintain accurate job records and report completed works promptly.
• Complete all work safely and to a high, right-first-time standard.

Reactive Maintenance Engineer - Carpentry/Plumbing

• Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire and wider contract area.
• Initially self-employed, with potential permanent employment after approximately 12 months.
• Own suitable van essential + company fuel card provided.

The Role

We are looking for a reliable and experienced Reactive Maintenance Engineer to carry out reactive maintenance and repairs across a portfolio of busy retail premises.

The successful candidate will have a strong carpentry background, alongside compete t plumbing and waste-pipework skills. You will be confident attending sites independently, diagnosing faults and completing effective repairs.

The role involves regular travel across Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire. Evening and out-of-hours work will also be required depending on the needs of the contract.

You will have:

• Experience in reactive maintenance or facilities maintenance.
• The ability to diagnose faults and find practical solutions.
• A full UK driving licence.
• Your own suitable van to carry tools, materials and equipment.
