Job summary

Carrington Blake Recruitment is seeking an experienced Highway Inspector to manage reactive highway maintenance across Cambridgeshire. You will inspect defects, report issues, coordinate emergency responses and liaise with contractors, elected members and residents.

You will work from a Cambridgeshire depot at least four days per week, on a flexible pattern of 37 hours weekly. A valid Highway Safety Inspector qualification and full UK driving licence are essential for this operational role.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in Highways & Transport in a similar role.
• Qualified Highway Safety Inspector with in-date certificate/qualification.
• Proven track record undertaking reactive highway maintenance.
• Experience coordinating emergency responses.
• Experience managing customer reports and enquiries through a digital system.

Responsibilities

• Managing reactive highway maintenance and repair activities.
• Coordinating emergency highway responses and prioritising urgent works.
• Undertaking highway safety inspections and identifying defects.
• Managing customer enquiries, complaints and service requests.
• Using digital systems to record, monitor and manage highway reports.
• Applying highway inspection policies and safety standards.
• Communicating with elected members, contractors and stakeholders.
