Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen at a dynamic and inclusive secondary school in North West London for a passionate and well-qualified Teacher of Religious Education and Social Science. We are seeking an enthusiastic educator who can inspire and engage students across KS3-KS5, and contribute to a successful and forward-thinking Humanities Faculty.

About the Role:
You will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning in Religious Education at KS3 and KS4, with opportunities to teach Social Science (such as Psychology or Sociology) at KS4 or KS5 depending on experience and curriculum structure. The ideal candidate will have strong subject knowledge, be committed to inclusive education, and bring creativity, critical thinking, and passion to their lessons.

This role is perfect for an ECT or experienced teacher who is committed to the development of well-rounded, thoughtful and reflective young people. You will join a supportive and collaborative team with excellent CPD opportunities and leadership that values staff well-being and progression.

Key Responsibilities:
• Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons in RE and Social Science in line with national curriculum and exam board specifications.
• Teach RE across KS3 and KS4, with the opportunity to contribute to KS5 if appropriate.
• Deliver Social Science (e.g. Sociology or Psychology) at KS4 and/or KS5, adapting materials to suit a range of learners.
• Promote pupils' spiritual, moral, social and cultural development through thought-provoking, inclusive teaching.
• Create a classroom environment that celebrates diversity, fosters dialogue, and encourages critical engagement with ethical and philosophical issues.
• Support whole-school initiatives such as PSHE, SMSC, and British Values through your subject specialism.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
• A relevant degree and UK-recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, SCITT, QTS or equivalent).
• Experience teaching Religious Education and/or Social Sciences in a secondary school setting (KS3-KS5).
• Excellent subject knowledge in RE and one or more Social Sciences (e.g. Sociology, Psychology).
• Strong classroom management and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to student well-being and inclusion.
• The ability to inspire, challenge and support all learners, including EAL and SEND students.
