Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Day-to-Day / Long-Term; Full-Time / Part-Time

Are you a thoughtful and enthusiastic RE Teacher with a passion for exploring beliefs, values, and worldviews? Do you want to encourage meaningful discussion and critical thinking in young minds?

GSL Education are looking for an inspiring Religious Education (RE) Teacher to work in welcoming secondary schools across Sheffield, starting September 2025. As an RE Teacher, you will deliver engaging and thought-provoking lessons that explore a variety of religious traditions, ethical dilemmas, and philosophical questions. You’ll help students develop respect for different perspectives while enhancing their reflective and evaluative skills.

This is a fantastic opportunity for both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) to bring depth and relevance to the RE curriculum.

What you have to do as a Religious Education (RE) Teacher:

  • Plan and deliver RE lessons in line with the national curriculum across Key Stages 3, 4 & 5
  • Encourage open discussion and debate, helping students appreciate diverse beliefs and moral viewpoints
  • Use a range of teaching strategies to engage students and cater to different learning styles
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback to support academic growth
  • Foster an inclusive classroom environment built on mutual respect and tolerance
  • Contribute to curriculum development and school-wide initiatives on SMSC (Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural) learning
  • Prepare students for assessments and ensure strong outcomes in RE
  • Work collaboratively with department colleagues to enhance teaching and learning
  • Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies
  • Promote a respectful and inquisitive approach to understanding world religions and ethical issues

What we need from a Teacher of RE:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification
  • Specialism in Religious Studies, Philosophy, or a related subject
  • Experience teaching RE in UK secondary schools
  • Excellent subject knowledge and ability to facilitate respectful discussions
  • Strong communication, organisational, and classroom management skills
  • Have an updated CV and an Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)

Why Join GSL Education?

  • Competitive daily pay based on your experience
  • Flexible working arrangements to suit your lifestyle
  • Opportunities to work across a range of diverse and inclusive schools
  • Support and development from a dedicated team of education consultants

Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection, and successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks, including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service or completing an application for a new check.

As an ethical, independent recruitment agency, GSL Education are committed to providing quality teaching and support staff across the UK.
