Job description

We are seeking a dedicated RE Teacher to join a fantastic secondary school in Peterborough! This is a brilliant opportunity to foster critical thinking, spiritual understanding, and ethical awareness in young minds.

This is a full-time, temp-to-perm role with a clear pathway to a permanent contract, starting in September 2025. You will be teaching RE across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 within a collaborative department. We are eager to find an exceptional RE Teacher to join this team.

About The Role:

As an RE Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging and high-quality Religious Education lessons. You'll create a stimulating learning environment where students can explore diverse beliefs, moral issues, and philosophical concepts, developing their analytical and empathetic skills. This is a chance for a talented RE Teacher to truly make a difference.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver inspiring RE lessons to students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE).
  • Assess, monitor, record, and report on student progress, providing constructive feedback to support their development.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages open discussion and respectful debate.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, school events, and continuous professional development opportunities.
  • Build strong relationships with students, colleagues, and parents to support student well-being and achievement.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK is essential.
  • A relevant degree in Religious Education, Theology, Philosophy, or a related subject.
  • Proven experience teaching RE across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 in a UK secondary school.
  • A strong understanding of the National Curriculum for RE and relevant examination board specifications.
  • Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to inspire and motivate students of all abilities.
  • A genuine passion for Religious Education and a desire to foster critical thinking and understanding in young people.
  • Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and contributing to the wider school community.
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
