Job Title: Religious Education (RE) Teacher
Location: Newham
Contract: Full-time, long-term
Start Date: September

A vibrant and inclusive secondary school in Newham is seeking a passionate and thoughtful Religious Education (RE) Teacher for a full-time, long-term role starting this September. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a school that values diversity, open-mindedness, and reflective learning as part of its core ethos.

The successful candidate will be confident teaching RE across Key Stages 3 and 4, inspiring students to explore world religions, moral dilemmas, and philosophical questions that shape society.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging RE lessons in line with the national curriculum

  • Teach a range of religious, ethical, and philosophical topics with sensitivity and balance

  • Prepare students for written assessments at KS4, including GCSE Religious Studies

  • Encourage respectful debate and critical thinking in the classroom

  • Create a safe and inclusive learning environment where students feel heard and valued

  • Contribute to whole-school initiatives that promote equality, diversity, and wellbeing

You will be a great fit if you:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised qualification

  • Have experience teaching RE in a UK secondary school

  • Are passionate about developing students’ moral reasoning and cultural awareness

  • Can deliver a curriculum that is both academically rigorous and personally relevant

  • Are reflective, empathetic, and able to manage classroom discussions with confidence

  • Uphold high standards of behaviour and mutual respect in your teaching
