We are recruiting for a RD&A Senior Technologist to join us at our Portbury site in Bristol.

The position will be responsible for the development of Meat and Meat alternative systems in conjunction with the Thai RD&A team. You will work in partnership with customers to develop innovative new concepts as well as renovating current products, coordinate the launch of new products, and ensure applications are acceptable in UK/Europe markets where sales are expected.

This is a collaborative role with a global network of chefs, marketing, and sensory experts to deliver products to market within launch timescales. All development work will focus on taste, functionality, and nutrition.

Due to the team’s location, there is a requirement to undertake training by visiting Thailand, working closely with the Thai RD&A and regulatory teams, and remaining fully flexible to travel within EMEA for customer visits and to Thailand for business needs when required.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead development on projects initiated by European customers that will be produced in Thailand.
  • Develop innovative solutions to help grow customer and Kerry’s market within cost parameters, manufacturing capability, while ensuring all new products are legal within the country of use.
  • Create value-added products with a point of difference from competitors, continuing to lead in the market through manufacturing process and ingredient knowledge.
  • Build relationships with key personnel within allocated accounts via visits, presentations, and attending trials in customer factories when required.
  • Work closely with the commercial account team to understand customer requirements and succeed on briefs.
  • Ensure that ingredient functionality meets customer expectations. Oversee projects from customer or internal brief through to handover to the Thai team for production at the factory stage.
  • Develop food system formulations and related application stability performance through demonstrated understanding of food formulation and chemical interactions.
  • Provide our customers with the best available products by understanding the market, manufacturing capabilities, ingredient restrictions, etc.
  • Work in partnership with customers and the Kerry cross-functional team to deliver products from concept to launch within agreed timeframes.
  • Maintain awareness of developments across Kerry, especially in Thailand, incorporating these into new developments and providing instructions for customers.
  • Ensure Kerry Taste and Nutrition is central to all concept development.
  • Carry out competitor and product awareness analysis, including sensory evaluations and retail reviews, typically in conjunction with business development.

Qualifications and skills

  • BSc in Food Science or equivalent as a minimum; higher degrees are advantageous.
