Job summary

Kerry in the UK is inviting applications for a Research, Development & Application Intern based in Runcorn. This full-time, on-site role runs for 9–12 months from January 2027, offering hands-on experience in our laboratories within an RD&A team.

You will support bench- and pilot-scale trials, document outcomes, and assist with ingredient tracking while learning from experienced scientists to help Kerry deliver sustainable nutrition.

Qualifications

• Studying or recently graduated in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Nutrition, Microbiology, Bioscience, Bakery Technology or related science degree, on track for a 21 degree classification.
• Curious about how a global business works and open to learning from others.
• Comfortable taking ownership of work and knowing when to ask for help.
• Eager to explore AI and new technologies to work smarter and solve challenges.
• Confident using Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Teams, and Copilot.
• Clear in communicating with team members, updates and priorities.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the development of new products via bench-scale and pilot-scale trials.
• Applying scientific principles to enhance taste, nutrition and functionality.
• Documenting experimental outcomes to support scale-up and transfer to manufacturing.
• Assisting with ingredient and formulation tracking to keep trials consistent.
• Maintaining retained samples and ensuring raw materials are within shelf-life.
• Keeping the RD&A lab and equipment organized and ready for project work.
• Recording work and time using Salesforce RD&A Tracker.
• Participating in team meetings, training and development to build technical expertise.
• Following Health & Safety protocols in labs and pilot plants.
