A Vet Job That’s Actually Different
Tired of reading the same cookie-cutter vet job ads? This one’s different and genuinely rare.
We’re working with one of the few remaining truly independent small animal practices in the area: a single-site, purpose-built clinic where nurses lead, clients are loyal, and you’re trusted to practice proper medicine without shortcuts.
Now, with steady growth and a brilliant team in place, they’re looking for the right second vet to join the practice, with equity on the table after 12 months.
The Practice
• 4,000+ sq ft purpose-built site
• Well-established, independent small animal clinic
•One of only two long-standing independents in the area
•5 consult rooms, separate dog/cat waiting areas, separate wards
•Spacious prep room, large ops theatre, dental suite, digital x-ray
• Loyal, respectful client base with room for caseload growth
• No “factory-feel” – proper consult time (no limit), clinical judgement respected
• Sustainable work-life balance: No OOH, No on-call, No Bank Holidays
The Team & Culture
•An established lead vet with over 20 years’ experience
• 3 incredibly capable RVNs: confident in anaesthesia, imaging, dentals & Schedule 3
• Reception team: 2 experienced and friendly professionals
• Genuinely nurse-led environment; nurses take histories, run clinics, perform exams
• Close-knit, supportive, ego-free team who genuinely enjoy working together
•Strong focus on patient care, case continuity, and long-term outcomes
•Every voice is heard, everyone contributes equally
Is This You?
You're a vet who:
•Wants real clinical autonomy, not production-line medicine
•Enjoys working closely with experienced RVNs in a respectful, collaborative team
•Values patient care, excellent client communication, and thorough case management
•Is open to exploring equity and contributing to long-term practice success
•Wants to stay in love with the job, not just survive it
What’s in it for you?
This is more than just another vet job, it’s a chance to be part of a genuinely independent, nurse-led practice where your voice matters and your clinical judgement is respected. You’ll have real autonomy, support from an experienced and ego-free team, and the opportunity to build long-term relationships with clients and patients alike. With a generous CPD budget, private healthcare, equity potential, and a proper work-life balance; you’ll be empowered to grow your career without burning out. Add in the quality of life Devon offers, and you’ve got a rare role that truly delivers on all fronts.
Why Devon?
Situated in beautiful Devon, close to the Devon/Cornwall boarder, the practice offers easy access to the coast and countryside, providing a wonderful quality of life outside work; perfect for vets seeking true work-life balance.
If you're looking for a job where you'll be supported, respected, and still able to love being a vet, this could be the one.
