Job summary

John Menzies in the United Kingdom is seeking a hands-on BOH operative to support ramp and baggage handling. You will undertake baggage sortation, carry out area and aircraft inspections, perform towing and pushback duties, and operate GSE safely in alignment with training.

A strong emphasis on health and safety, compliance and teamwork, with requirements for a full five-year history, valid passport, National Insurance, driving licence, and security clearances.

Qualifications

• A full five-year history of work/unemployment/education.
• Valid Passport required.
• Proof of National Insurance.
• Criminal Record Check and Airside Security Clearance.
• Full and valid UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Undertake baggage sortation duties in a safe, efficient manner.
• Carry out area hazard checks and aircraft inspections.
• Carry out equipment inspections (pre-trip, daily, weekly).
• Report faults or irregularities to management.
• Carry out towing, pushback and headset duties with flight deck communication.
• Operate GSE safely and in accordance with training.
• Provide de-icing in winter as required.

Reporting to the Team Leader, BOH Supervisor & BOH Duty Manager. Delivering high performance standards around all aspects of ramp and baggage handling, meeting the requirements of our customers and maintaining health and safety and overall good working practices in accordance to company policies and procedures at all times.

What you will be doing

• Undertake all relevant baggage sortation duties in a safe and efficient manner, setting up flights, using BRS & Brock scanner where required
• Carry out area hazard checks.
• Carry out aircraft inspections.
• Carry out equipment inspections, pre-trip, daily & weekly.
• Report any faults or irregularities with equipment, facilities or processes to the appropriate Management.
• Carry out Towing, Pushback & Head-set duties, including communication with the flight deck, in accordance with the relevant training received.
• Operate position and remove all relevant company GSE required for our customer airlines, in a safe and efficient manner, in accordance with the relevant training received.
• During winter operation provide de-icing to customer airlines in accordance with the relevant training received.
