Job summary

Morson Vital is seeking a motivated Technical Clerk to join the Signalling Design Team in Gateshead. This role focuses on administrative and document-control support for safety-critical documentation, with on-the-job training provided.

As you gain experience you may learn signalling design software and progress toward a Signalling Design Assistant role. Office-based at Team Valley, some travel could be required.

Qualifications

• Excellent attention to detail, especially with safety-critical docs.
• Responsible, patient and methodical, able to own tasks.
• Strong computer literacy; quick to learn new software.
• Good organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to learn railway signalling, electrical principles and design processes.
• Full UK driving licence or commitment to obtain within six months.
• Must meet health and fitness requirements including colour-vision where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Design Administration and Document Control: manage signalling design docs and project records; process safety-critical paperwork; maintain issue registers.
• Planning and Coordination: liaise with delivery teams on work programmes; review plans; communicate changes to designers and team leads.
• Technical Development and Career Progression: training in signalling software and progression toward Signalling Design Assistant.
• Working Arrangements: role based in Gateshead; regular office attendance; travel may be required to other locations.
