Your Role

Due to a recent promotion, we now have an exciting opportunity to grow our team. This role provides the foundation for becoming a fully qualified Shunter and, eventually, a Driver. No two days are ever the same—you could be shunting wagons in the sidings or hauling trains within our railway site. You'll start with a competitive salary, which increases upon qualifying as a Shunter and again once you achieve your driving qualification.

Your Responsibilities

• General Railway Operating Duties – to include Railway Rules, Local Working Instructions & Methods of Work
• Perform the responsibilities of a Railway Shunter, including coupling and uncoupling wagons, setting points, and inspecting train formations
• Operate Steelman and Vanguard Locomotives, ensuring smooth journeys while performing essential maintenance and equipment checks.
• Carry out Rail Operating duties at other locations UK wide if required.

Your Skills and Experiences

• Experience in railway operations (desirable), however training will be provided for suitable candidates without railway experience.
• Pass Drugs and Alcohol screening in accordance with current regulations for Safety Critical posts (Mandatory prior to appointment).
• Full current UK driving licence.
• Qualified in First Aid at Work (Post appointment if required).
• Must be conversant with PC operation and Microsoft Office suite of applications.
