Job summary

Colas Rail UK is seeking a Maintenance Technician to provide effective maintenance support for our rail freight vehicles. You will perform scheduled maintenance, diagnose electrical and mechanical issues, and ensure assets perform to required standards.

The role offers hands-on training, opportunities to develop wide engineering skills, and a safe, inclusive workplace with a strong focus on safety, documentation, and compliant working practices.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in an engineering discipline is required.
• Full UK Driving Licence is required.
• Ability to perform electrical and mechanical maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

• Undertake scheduled maintenance activities at approved locations.
• Undertake electrical and mechanical repairs on locomotives and rolling stock.
• Perform assessments and tests to ensure assets meet required standards.
• Maintain knowledge to operate safely in a railway environment.
• Ensure maintenance documentation is accurate and legible.
• Work under the direction of Team Leader and Production Manager.
• Adhere to all company policies, risk assessments and safety procedures.
