Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to join our Rail Systems Engineering team. You’ll work in a part of Telent dedicated to maintaining the UK rail network, serving clients like Transport for London, Network Rail, and Train Operating Companies.

Reporting to the Lead Safety and Security Engineer, the system engineer will deliver project upgrades mainly across Network Rail, TFL, TFGM infrastructure. You will undertake all technical aspects of projects, including survey, design, and technical aspects of SISS within a Rail environment.

Typical Deliverables
  • Strong experience in system design, survey, and technical engineering within SISS.
  • Lead on creating ideas for new products or services and drawing up plans for new designs.
  • Manage ideas from initial design through to production or installation.
  • Draw detailed technical plans for ideas and concepts.
  • Use mathematical and scientific skills to develop real-world solutions.
  • Select appropriate materials for new products or constructions.
  • Calculate accurate project cost analyses.
  • Complete technical and regulatory documentation.
  • Ensure quality-control tests and oversee construction, development, and deployment.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of professional engineering disciplines and related areas.
  • Arrange testing of products, systems, software, or infrastructure.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Develop personal engineering skills.
  • Solve complex problems with innovative perspectives.
  • Work independently with minimal guidance.
  • Lead projects or project steps and mentor less experienced colleagues.
  • Comply with QEHS requirements.
Skill Requirements
  • Previous technical SISS experience, engineering, design, and survey skills.
  • Relevant licenses/certifications for the discipline.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and other CAD software.
  • Knowledge of quality standards, processes, and regulations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and customer-focused.
  • Problem-solving passion and strong analytical skills.
