Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to join our expanding Rail Systems Engineering team. You will work within a division of Telent dedicated to maintaining the UK rail network, serving clients such as Transport for London, Network Rail, and various Train Operating Companies.

Reporting to the Lead Safety and Security Engineer, your responsibilities will include delivering project upgrades across Network Rail, TFL, TFGM, etc. infrastructure. You will handle all technical aspects of projects, including survey, design, and technical execution of SISS systems within a rail environment.

Typical Deliverables:
  • Extensive experience in system design, survey, and technical engineering within SISS.
  • Potentially lead in creating new product or service ideas and developing plans for new designs.
  • Manage ideas from initial design through to production and installation.
  • Draft detailed technical plans for concepts.
  • Apply mathematical and scientific skills to develop practical solutions.
  • Select appropriate materials for new products or constructions.
  • Forecast accurate project costs.
  • Complete necessary technical and regulatory documentation.
  • Ensure quality-control testing and oversee construction, development, and deployment processes.
Responsibilities:
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of your professional engineering discipline and basic knowledge of related disciplines.
  • Coordinate testing of products, systems, software, or infrastructure.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Continuously develop personal engineering skills.
  • Solve complex problems and innovate solutions.
  • Work independently with minimal guidance.
  • Lead projects or project phases as required.
  • Mentor less experienced colleagues.
  • Comply with QEHS requirements.
Skill Requirements:
  • Proven experience in SISS, engineering, design, and survey skills.
  • Relevant licenses/certifications for the discipline.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, AutoCAD/MicroStation, and other CAD software.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and focus on customer needs.
  • Passion for problem-solving with strong analytical skills.
