Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to join our expanding Rail Systems Engineering team. You will work in a part of Telent dedicated to maintaining the UK-wide rail network. Our customers include Transport for London, Network Rail, and various Train Operating Companies.

Reporting to the Lead Safety and Security Engineer, the Systems Engineer will be responsible for delivering project upgrades mainly across Network Rail, TFL, TFGM, etc. infrastructure. Acting as the Systems Engineer for customer projects, you will handle all technical aspects, including survey, design, and technical aspects of SISS within a Rail environment.

Typical Deliverables
  • Strong experience in system design, survey, and technical engineering within SISS.
  • Potentially lead the creation of new product or service ideas and develop plans for new designs.
  • Manage ideas from initial design through to production and installation.
  • Draw up detailed technical plans for concepts.
  • Use mathematical and scientific skills to develop real-world solutions.
  • Select appropriate materials for new products or constructions.
  • Calculate accurate cost analyses for projects.
  • Complete technical and regulatory documentation.
  • Ensure quality control and oversee the construction, development, and deployment of systems.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of your engineering discipline and basic knowledge of related disciplines.
  • Arrange testing of products, systems, software, or infrastructure.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Develop personal engineering skills continually.
  • Solve complex problems with innovative solutions.
  • Work independently with minimal guidance.
  • Lead projects or project phases and mentor colleagues.
  • Comply with QEHS requirements.
Skill Requirements
  • Previous technical experience in SISS, engineering, design, and survey skills.
  • Relevant licenses/certifications for the sector.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD/MicroStation, and other CAD software.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and focus on customer needs.
  • Passion for problem-solving and providing practical solutions.
  • Strong analytical skills and process visualization ability.
