Job Description

The Senior Contract Manager is required for maternity cover for a landscaping contractor in the rail and infrastructure division. This role covers the entire Wales area. The position starts with two days a week in August for handover, then shifts to full-time from September to February.

Main purpose of role: The Senior Contracts Manager holds overall responsibility for the project lifecycle, focusing on client management and network building. Ensures full compliance on sites, including health, safety, and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Stakeholder Management: Building and maintaining client relationships to increase workflow, managing complex issues, and ensuring effective communication between contract managers and clients.
  2. Financial Management: Overseeing project finances, including costings, gap analysis, and reporting. Collaborating with the Commercial Director to monitor costs, forecast expenses, and negotiate with suppliers.
  3. People and Talent Management: Leading a team of Contract Managers and Planners, supporting their development, and fostering a collaborative work environment. Developing succession plans and setting objectives for team growth.
  4. Project Management: Overseeing multiple projects, producing technical reports, and ensuring project delivery aligns with client expectations and company standards.
  5. Compliance and Safety: Ensuring site compliance, monitoring health and safety, managing hazards, and working with HSQE to promote safety awareness and environmental responsibility.
  6. Business Development: Supporting business growth by assisting with tendering, pricing large contracts, and liaising with Business Development teams.
  7. Resourcing and Asset Management: Managing project allocation, sourcing equipment, and managing subcontractors as needed.
  8. Decision Making and Reporting: Making project sign-offs, monitoring progress, and providing regular reports to directors and teams.

Project Scope: Managing regional projects exceeding £6 million annually.

Essential Skills and Experience: Over 5 years in the rail industry or similar, management experience, industry knowledge of arboriculture and/or rail, stakeholder engagement, and a full UK driving license.

Desirable Skills and Qualifications: Experience in manual roles, COSS and SMSTS qualifications, HSQE qualifications such as NEBOSH or IOSH.
