A leading civils contractor is searching for a Site Engineer to oversee bridge replacement projects in a live rail environment. The ideal candidate will possess relevant engineering qualifications, work experience in rail or highways projects, and essential safety certifications such as PTS and Highways Passport. Carrington West is recruiting a Site Engineer to join a civils contractor on the delivery of a bridge replacements over a live railway line. The ideal Site Engineer will have their confined spaces ticket and previous experience working on bridge replacement schemes on either rail or highways related projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the delivery of bearing and joint replacement works on a structure over a railway.
Carry out setting out and site engineering tasks in line with project requirements.
Coordinate with the delivery team to manage day-to-day site operations, including safety, quality, and progress tracking.
Liaise with rail and highways stakeholders to ensure access, safety, and possession compliance.
Assist in planning and managing confined space activities within bearing shelves.
Maintain accurate site records and as-built data.
Requirements:
·Experience working on structural, highways, or rail projects - ideally bridge or bearing replacement schemes.
·Relevant Engineering qualification.
·Valid PTS (Personal Track Safety).
·Valid Highways Passport.
·Confined Space Training - desirable, due to work in bearing shelves.
·Strong understanding of health and safety practices, especially in rail and confined space environments.
·Flexibility to work nights and weekends as required by rail possessions.
