Rail Health & Safety Manager for HS2 Projects

Job summary

OHUK is seeking a Health & Safety Manager on a permanent basis to lead hands-on safety support across HS2 rail projects in London and at various site locations. You will work closely with project teams, contractors and Principal Contractors to drive safe, compliant delivery across multiple sites.

The role requires strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation, Rail/Tunnelling experience, and qualifications such as NEBOSH NCRQ or IOSH membership.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as Health & Safety Manager within a Tier 1 organisation.
• Rail, Power & Utilities and/or Tunnelling exposure.
• Strong construction industry knowledge.
• Understanding of UK Health & Safety legislation.
• Experience in accident/incident investigations.
• Knowledge of ISO 45001.

Responsibilities

• Provide health, safety and wellbeing advice across live HS2 projects.
• Conduct site inspections, audits and compliance reviews.
• Review RAMS, Work Package Plans and Task Briefing Sheets.
• Investigate accidents and safety observations and close-out actions.
• Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings and training.
• Monitor H&S performance and ensure actions are followed through.
• Attend project and Principal Contractor meetings.
• Support implementation of company and client H&S procedures.
