Job Description

We are seeking a Mechanical/Electrical Maintenance Technician to join our team. The role involves preparing machinery, assessing work requirements, and ensuring plans meet specifications while adhering to health, safety, and environmental standards, following VMI and operational manuals.

Person Specification

SHEQ Responsibilities

• Work in accordance with applicable Safety Plans and Method Statements.
• Comply with Section 7 of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.

Competencies Required

• Recognised formal apprenticeship in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Achieved core competencies including Foundation Course, Machine Setup, and Pack Away for Operation Grinding Railgrinding Maintainer, as per the Operations/Maintenance competence matrix.
• Valid Driving Licence.
• PTS certification.
• Fire Training certification.
• Emergency First Aid certification.
• Depot/Yard Inductions.
• Basic Laser Safety knowledge.
• COSS certification.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate or maintain machinery safely and effectively under supervision.
• Perform 2nd man/fire watch duties during grinding operations.
• Report machine defects to the Supervisor.
• Collect and collate machine data outputs.
• Follow Colas Rail Services Operations procedures for safety and effectiveness.
• Assist in various tasks as required.
• Maintain quality systems, safety packs, and stabling database, recommending updates as needed.
• Undertake additional duties if deemed competent.
• Perform COSS duties when required.
• Conduct daily maintenance tasks such as chipping and blowing.
• Complete daily Work Return Forms accurately.
